In this web-based program, physicians will learn how recent advances in basic and clinical research have helped to advance the understanding of and strategies for applying oral antiplatelet therapy and proton pump inhibitors in the setting of acute coronary syndrome and coronary artery disease.

Educational Objectives:

Participants in this CME-certified MedicineWRAP will:

  • Learn appropriate, guideline-consistent strategies for use of oral antiplatelet therapy in the setting of ACS and CAD
  • Learn how to utilize recommended, AHA and ACC guideline-consistent practice statements for ACS patients undergoing stent insertion who are candidates for dual antiplatelet therapy (DAT) and gastroprotective therapy with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs)
  • Learn how to evaluate ACS patients on DAT for their need to be on gastroprotective therapy with PPIs
  • Learn about observational studies and prospective, randomized studies evaluating the potential for interactions between oral antiplatelet agents and PPIs
  • Learn about the possible mechanisms, including CYP metabolism pathways, and pharmacogenomic predisposing factors that may explain interactions among oral antiplatelet agents and PPIs
  • Learn about real world approaches to managing patients with require DAT and gastroprotective therapy with PPIs

To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer. An email address is required for registration, and a printer is required to printout the CME certificate.
