In this web-based program, physicians will learn how recent advances in basic and clinical research have helped to advance the understanding of and strategies for managing Alzheimer’s disease, particularly early management with cholinesterase inhibitors.

Educational Objectives:

Participants in this CME-certified MedicineWRAP will:

  • Learn appropriate, guideline-consistent strategies for use of cholinesterase inhibitors in the setting of mild, moderate, and severe Alzheimer's Disease (AD)
  • Learn about the role of cholinergic dysregulation and the "cholinergic hypothesis" as pathophysiological underpinnings for clinical symptoms observed in AD
  • Learn how to evaluate patients with minimal and mild cognitive impairment in order to determine need for early pharmacologic intervention in AD
  • Learn about landmark trials that have documented improvements in cognitive and behavioral domains that are affected in AD
  • Learn about the possible mechanisms for how cholinesterase inhibitors improve cognitive function in AD
  • Learn about real world approaches that employ a combination of cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists in patients with AD

Hardware and Software Requirements:

To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer. An email address is required for registration, and a printer is required to printout the CME certificate.
