There are no fees for participating and receiving CME credit for this activity. During the period August 31, 2011 through August 31, 2012, participants must read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures and study the educational activity.

PIM supports Green CME by offering your Request for Credit online. If you wish to receive acknowledgment for completing this activity, please complete the post-test and evaluation. Upon registering and successfully completing the post-test with a score of 70% or better and the activity evaluation, your certificate will be made available immediately. Participants in this CME-certified WebCAST will:

  • Discuss advances in oral anticoagulation based on new mechanisms involving inhibition of the coagulation cascade
  • Discuss advances in oral anticoagulation based on new mechanisms involving inhibition of the coagulation cascade and possible implications for thrombosis risk reduction across the CV disease morbidity continuum.
  • Outline the safety and efficacy of such established therapies as warfarin on patients at risk for stroke in the setting of AF
  • Describe how to risk stratify patients for incurring stroke in the setting of AF
  • Summarize current and evolving prophylaxis measures that can reduce the incidence of stroke.
  • Explain current ACC/AHA, ACCP, and AAN guidelines for stroke prevention in the setting of AF.
  • List novel, evidence-based approaches for residual risk reduction and secondary prevention of adverse thromboembolic events in a broad range of patients with heart disease
  • Apply results from clinical trials focusing on thromboembolic risk prevention in patients with ACS and atrial fibrillation.

To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer. An email address is required for registration, and a printer is required to printout the CME certificate.
