Course Overview:
In this web-based program, physicians will learn how recent advances
in basic and clinical research have helped to advance the understanding
of and strategies for the diagnosis and management of hypoactive sexual
desire disorder in women.

Educational Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Be better able to initiate physician-patient communication strategies
that will improve and encourage open dialogue between practitioners
and patients who may meet DSM criteria for HSDD or other FSDs
- Be able
to apply interview strategies such as PLISSIT (Permission, Limited
Information, Specific Suggestions, Intensive Therapy) in the adult
internal medicine setting to initiate discussions with women about
sexual health issues
- Be able to employ interviewing techniques such
as ALLOW (Ask, Legitimize, Limitations, Open up, Work together), and
engage in improved communication and dialogue about sexual health issues
in the primary care and internal medicine setting
- Be better able to
diagnose sexual health-related disease states in premenopausal women
in the adult outpatient, internal medicine and primary care settings
- Be
able to define and classify the HSDD disease state, with a focus on
how to use simple questionnaires, screening tools, and other sexual
health assessment metrics to confirm the diagnosis in the internal
medicine setting
- Be able to discuss the underlying pathophysiology
of HSDD, including neurobiological and psychopharmacological dimensions
as they currently are understood
Hardware and Software Requirements:
To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh
computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of
the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer. An email address is
required for registration, and a printer is required to printout the
CME certificate.
