- Characterize the role of DPP-4 inhibitors in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease and/or its complications; and, understand the potential safety and effects of this class on T2D patients with CV risk factors.
- Optimally employ DPP-4 inhibitors based on their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties.
- Understand the pathophysiology of T2D, as it relates to the hormonal regulatory systems, in particular, the incretin hormonal axis.
- Understand the effects and clinical uses of the incretin hormones, including the role of DPP-4 inhibitors on glycemic control and other dimensions of the diabetic disease state.
