Method of Physician Participation Utilized in Learning Process

There are no fees for participating and receiving CME credit for this activity. During the period December 12, 2012 through December 12, 2014, participants must 1) read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures; 2) study the educational activity, and are expected to view all six segments totaling 3.5 hours to successfully complete the activity and earn CME credit; 3) register and complete the evaluation form; 4) score 100% on the post-test; and 5) print out your CME certificate.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize and apply the clinical criteria for being overweight or obese, and understand the implications of this classification on other health markers and disease states, including diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and related disease states
  • Apply both BMI criteria and DEXA measurements to become more proficient at screening for overweight status and obesity
  • Manage obesity as a primary "risk factor" in the setting of common cardiovascular and cardiometabolic conditions including CAD and T2D; and become proficient at weight loss interventions within the setting of internal medicine- and primary care-based specialty care
  • Employ multimodal strategies, including pharmacologic management, to effect weight reduction in high risk, overweight individuals with co--morbid conditions
  • Deploy pharmacologic therapies that work through neurological and neurophysiological targets for appetite dysregulation

Hardware and Software Requirements:

To participate in this program, viewers must have a PC or Macintosh computer that has active, ongoing internet access for the duration of the program, as well as a compatible Flash-viewer. An email address is required for registration, and a printer is required to print out the CME certificate.
