Educational Objectives:
- Clinicians will review recent trials, research, and expert
analysis of issues focused on thrombosis and cancer.
- Clinicians will
specify strategies for risk-directed prophylaxis against DVT in at
risk patients with cancer.
- Clinicians will explain how to assess and
manage special needs of cancer patients at risk for DVT, with a focus
on protecting against recurrent DVT.
- Clinicians will describe how to
risk stratify patients undergoing cancer surgery, and implement ACCP-mandated
pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic measures aimed at DVT prophylaxis.
- Clinicians
will review landmark clinical trials focusing on DVT prophylaxis in
patients with cancer.
- Clinicians will explain how to appropriately use
the range of pharmacologic options available for thrombosis management
in patients with malignancy.
