academicians, pharmacists, researchers, investigators, and program directors
from the fields of neurology, movement disorders, geriatrics, geropsychiatry,
internal medicine, primary care, and related disciplines who care for
patients with Parkinson’s Disease.

Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of The University of

continuing medical education for physicians.

Dr. Elmer reports that he has received research or grant support for

Educational Objectives:
Physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers will:
- Learn to
risk stratify, screen for, and evaluate patients with suspected or
possible risk for Parkinson’s Disease (PD), and identify
optimal thera peutic approaches.
- Learn to undertake a systematic evaluation
of patients at risk for PD, including neurological exam, radiological
examination, and appropriate laboratory markers.
- Learn evidence-based
approaches to reducing pro gression of PD, and sequencing pharmacological
ap proaches in patients requiring monotherapy combination therapy for
PD.
- Learn how to select safe and effective pharmacotherapy for treatment
of PD.
- Learn how issues related to dosing, dosing schedules, compliance,
persistence, and adherence may impact patient preferences and outcomes
in patients with PD.
- Learn how issues related to drug interactions,
side ef fects, and combination therapy may impact drug selec tion strategies
and outcomes in patients with PD.
- Learn how landmark trials and analyses
focusing on disease modification
