Intended Audience:
The educational activity is designed for all physicians, acade micians,
researchers, investigators, support staff, nurses, and program directors
from the fields hematology and oncology.

Educational Objectives:
As a result of participating in this program, clinicians from multiple
disciplines, including oncology, hematology, surgical oncology, cancer
supportive care, cancer nursing, internal medicine, clinical pharmacy,
and related specialties will:

Learn how to deliver evidence- and expert-generated therapy for
MDS, based on the stage, severity, and disease karyotype.

Learn about
the safety, efficacy, survival, complications, adverse effects, and
indications for cytotoxic agents used for MDS.
-
Learn about the safety,
efficacy, survival, complications, adverse effects, and indications
for hypomethylating and immune modulating agents used and indicated
for MDS.
-
Learn how to approach to difficult-to-treat patients, including
those with unfavorable karyotype (i.e. complex karyotypes or monosomy
7).
-
Learn how to assess optimal triggers to timing for bone transplantation,
with a focus on level of remission and pretreatment with single or
combination agents prior to transplant.

Learn about the implications
of studies evaluating single and combination cytotoxic chemotherapy
in patients with MDS.
